FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 21, 2013) –Employees of Myers, Brettholtz & Company, PA, Certified Public Accountants & Business Consultants recently donated 157 pounds of turkeys to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.
The accounting firm gave each of its 24 staff members a turkey for Thanksgiving. According to Lori Sampson-Wilson, shareholder of Myers, Brettholtz, more than half of the employees in turn donated their turkeys to the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
“Community involvement and volunteerism are an integral component of the culture at our firm,” said Sampson-Wilson. “When you see your team unselfishly give to others in a time of need, it is personally rewarding.”
The Harry Chapin Food Bank hopes to collect 298,000 pounds of food and raise $1.4 million to feed children, families, seniors and other Southwest Floridians in need during Thanksgiving and the holidays.
The mission of the Harry Chapin Food Bank is to overcome hunger in Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Glades and Hendry counties through education and by working in a cooperative effort with affiliated agencies in the procurement and distribution of food, equitably and without discrimination.
