FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 10, 2016) – Lori Sampson, principal with Myers, Brettholtz & Company, PA, Certified Public Accountants & Business Consultants, has been appointed to the Cape Coral expansion executive committee for the capital campaign to bring Gulf Coast Humane Society to Cape Coral.

Gulf Coast Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill, animal welfare organization. Its mission is to provide humane care for surrendered animals by offering refuge, providing medical care and facilitating an adoptive home. Each year, it takes in more than 1,000 animals in need of compassionate care.

Last May, Gulf Coast Humane Society announced it was in the beginning stages of plans to open an animal shelter in Cape Coral. The plan, while originally thought to be five years down the road, has gained so much momentum that the organization is estimating the project to be completed in the next two to three years.

Sampson has been with Myers, Brettholtz since 1993 working with nonprofit organizations, small business, and homeowner and condominium associations performing part-time chief financial officer, controllership and consulting services. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from Hodges University. She is a past board member of the South Gulf Coast Chapter of Community Associations Institute (CAI) and has taught several courses regarding association accounting issues and is the firm’s leading source for QuickBooks support, information technology and budgeting. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Community Associations Institute (CAI), Condominium Owners Managers Association (COMA) and American Resort Development Association (ARDA), National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, past treasurer of the Gulf Coast Society of Fund Raising Executives and Kiwanis Club member.
