Funds raised will go toward Fort Myers Police Department personnel and programs
FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 16, 2016) – The Fort Myers Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association recently hosted a self-defense class fundraiser.
More than 15 attendees raised more than $300 during the event led by Master David and Grand Master Noah Guak of United Martial Arts School in Fort Myers.
All funds raised will go toward support of Fort Myers Police Department personnel and programs.
United Martial Arts is located at 2500 Crystal Drive in Fort Myers and specializes in Ko Am Mu Do and Hap Ki Do as well as Tae Kwon Do and weapons training.
During the class, participants learned how to be aware of dangerous situations before they happen and to leave feeling safer and confident in defending themselves.
“We all need to be aware of our surroundings, whether we’re walking to our car or entering our homes,” said Guak. “This fundraiser helped attendees learn how to spot and avoid danger while at the same time raised important funds for our local police officers who protect us every day.”
Fort Myers’ CPAAA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to bringing together the graduates of the Fort Myers Citizen’s Police Academy to enhance relations between the community and the Fort Myers Police Department and to provide other assistance and support to the police department and its families whenever possible. Membership is $25 per person annually, and all past FMPD Citizen Police Academy class members are invited to join.
