NAPLES, Fla. (May 17, 2016) – Ryan Benson, MBA, principal with A. Vernon Allen Builder, has been selected as chair of the Immokalee Youth Development Center Construction Committee for the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County.

Construction is underway, and the new Immokalee Youth Development Center is expected to be up and running by January 2017.

Benson will also act as the owner representative for the center in order to assist in overseeing the construction of the new 24,512-square-foot facility.

The new building will serve the unmet, out-of-school time needs of Immokalee youth and will house a full-service cafeteria, kitchen, classrooms, computer labs, dance and music studios, arts academy, teen center and more.

Originally from Canada, Benson has lived in Florida for almost 20 years. After graduating from Canterbury School in Fort Myers, he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Stetson University in DeLand, Fla., and his Master of Business Administration degree from Florida International University in Miami. He has been in the construction industry for 15 years and joined A. Vernon Allen Builder in 2007. In 2013, he and Andrew Bringardner acquired the firm.

In addition to his role as a board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County, he is very involved in several community organizations including previously serving as president of Naples Gulf Shore Rotary Club from 2013 to 2014 and was on the board of trustees for Canterbury School for five years. He also continues to guest lecture at Stetson’s School of Business.

The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County is a nonprofit, youth development organization, which annually serves 3,000 of the most at-risk children and teens in Collier County.
