SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. (Jan. 9, 2013)–On Tuesday, Jan. 8, Sanibel Island’s five-star dining restaurant, Il Cielo, hosted more than 35 members of Connect for Success, a monthly concierge networking event for front desk, hotel staff, managers and reservationists.
The event was held in Il Cielo’s new Cloud 9 Grille, and was also sponsored by the Edison & Ford Winter Estates and Captiva Cruises. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and updates on the Edison & Ford Winter Estates river tours in conjunction with Captiva Cruises.
Each Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., boat cruises and tours depart from McCarthy’s Marina on Captiva Island to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. The cruise tour provides a unique look at the Caloosahatchee River and its importance ecologically and culturally, a great view of the Edison Ford estates from the water, lunch at the Royal Palm Yacht Club and a tour of the Estates. Meaning “the sky” in Italian, Il Cielo is located at 1244 Periwinkle Way on Sanibel Island and will reopen to the public on Dec. 13 featuring new menu items and interior upgrades including the more casual Cloud 9 Grille.
The restaurant opened last January to rave reviews from local food critics and enjoyed a very successful first season of business.
The Il Cielo menu has been revamped and now offers a more eclectic sampling in addition to a number of favorites from last season’s menu including mussels, traditional meatballs, linguini and clams, pastas, filet and lamb. New items featured on the Cloud 9 menu include Baja fish tacos, lobster mac and cheese, a six-ounce New York strip, wild-caught Salmon and more.
Menu items range from $4 to $38. Hours are daily from 5 to 10 p.m.
