FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 18, 2013) – Rick Russell will perform in the Veranda’s piano lounge every week Tuesday through Saturday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and artist, Russell began his musical career in the 1970s after moving to Louisiana from western New York as a young boy. Russell’s career brought him to Sanibel Island a few years later. His music and work have won him many awards and appearances on PBS and NPR. Russell and his wife Danette founded the popular local roots band Stringtown.

“I am humbled and honored to be following in the venerated tradition of the Veranda’s previous performers Lila and Dale,” said Russell.

Russell’s sets will offer eclectic renditions along with his original compositions of Elton John, Billy Joel, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Randy Newman, Tom Waits, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Durante, Paul Simon and Dr. John, played in Russell’s warm, soulful and relaxing style.

Since 1978, the Veranda has featured southern regional cuisine with a full bar, an extensive wine list and first-class service in a romantic setting. Located at 2122 Second Street in two turn-of-the-century Victorian homes, the Veranda has consistently been honored as one of the most award-winning restaurants in the area.
