FORT MYERS, Fla. (Aug. 27, 2013) – Sam Galloway Ford teamed up with Community Cooperative Ministries, Inc. to raise $35,000 during the 2nd Annual Summer Drive for Hunger.

From June 1 through July 4, the Summer Drive for Hunger collected non-perishable food and cash donations for CCMI. Every person who brought the equivalent of one pound of food into Sam Galloway Ford, located off of Boy Scout Drive, was entered into a drawing for $5,000. In addition to the $5,000 drawing, Galloway Ford donated $1 for every pound of food received during the food drive.

“There is nothing more upsetting than knowing that thousands of children are going hungry and families are feeling the strain of putting more food on the table during the summer when school isn’t in session,” said Sam Galloway, Jr. “Our goal was to raise 25,000 pounds of food by July 4 so we could donate $25,000 to help CCMI keep the pantry shelves full through the remainder of the slow season.”

According to Galloway, Ford Motor Company also donated $10,000 for a total of $35,000.

“Each summer, the demand for our services increases as food donations drop significantly,” said Tracey Galloway, CEO of CCMI. “We are extremely grateful for the Summer Drive for Hunger campaign. The food donations coupled with the very generous pledge by Galloway Ford will ensure that CCMI is able to meet the increased demand during the summer months.”
