FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 13, 2013) – This week, Scanlon Auto Group will celebrate the official opening of its new Lexus dealership located at 14200 South Tamiami Trail in Fort Myers.

This new two-story state-of-the-art dealership encompasses 77,800 square feet offering a high-end showroom with customer lounge, business offices and employee training rooms, indoor drive-thru drop-off area with eight service advisor stations, indoor new vehicle delivery area, retail merchandise and parts area, a 43-vehicle climate controlled service area and a two-bay car wash.

“We are very proud of this new facility and have already had rave reviews from our clients,” said Jay Scanlon, vice president of Scanlon Auto. “The Lexus name is associated with quality, luxury and superior customer satisfaction, and that is exactly what we wanted our new dealership to mirror.”

Construction features of the new building include poured concrete, a 45-foot glass curtain wall, Roman classic travertine stone throughout the front façade, and walnut veneer doors and trim throughout the interior.

The customer lounge features a multi-tier Rulon wood panel ceiling with custom lights, three large flat-screen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi service. A staffed refreshment bar awaits guests and customers. The tile and Rulon ceilings in the showroom are carried through into the new-car delivery area which is a three-bay climate controlled area and features aluminum and hurricane rated glass rollup doors. Theses doors are also used in the service drop-off area, which is an enclosed but open-aired area featuring brick pavers and four large fans.

The service bay area includes mud-set tile floors with a specialty tile called clinker tile. This tile is thicker in size and will withstand heavy traffic. The addition of 40-plus matching color Snap On toolboxes and workbenches with stainless steel tops and Internet service at every work station complements this area.

Owen-Ames-Kimball Company began the project in March 2014 and served as the construction manager. Schenkel Shultz was the architect.

“The Scanlons envisioned a high-quality, high-end hotel when designing this Lexus dealership,” said O-A-K President Dave Dale. “The final product is exactly what they envisioned.”

Owen-Ames-Kimball Company and GMA architects are currently remodeling Scanlon’s former Lexus showroom, located next door, into a new Acura dealership. The 11,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to be completed by late spring 2014.

“When the Acura dealership is completed, we will have invested more than $25 million into Lee County with these two construction projects located on 11.79 acres and created over 40 new jobs,” said Scanlon. “We are proud to say more than 90 percent of the construction work was completed by local subcontractors. We have called Southwest Florida our home for more than three decades, and we plan to be here for many more.”

The Scanlon family has been operating car dealerships in Southwest Florida since 1980. Today, Scanlon Auto Group includes Scanlon Lexus and Scanlon Acura, both located south on US 41 in Fort Myers.

Lexus is a division of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation. Models include luxury sedans, convertibles, SUVs and hybrids. In 2013, Consumer Reports named Lexus the top all-around brand, recommending all of Lexus’ models and giving them an above-average reliability score.
