SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. (Dec. 2, 2013) – Beginning Monday, Dec. 9, Sanibel Island’s Il Cielo restaurant will be open Monday through Thursday evenings from 4:30 to 9 and 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Meaning “the sky,” Il Cielo is located at 1244 Periwinkle Way on Sanibel Island featuring thoughtful, local cuisine.

Il Cielo will continue its daily happy hour in the bar including specially priced appetizers and drink specials. From 4:30 to 6 p.m., patrons can enjoy signature small plates and two-for-one drink specials on all domestic bottled beer, well drinks and house wine selections.

Il Cielo features a full liquor bar with a wide selection of wines as well as housemade desserts.

Menu items range from $4 to $42.

“Our winter dinner menu features daily specials, sustainably caught local fish, grass-finished beef, lamb and free-range chicken”, said Il Cielo’s Chef Neil Griffin. “We partner with several local farms to bring our guests the freshest locally grown and organic fruits and vegetables, and we are happy to cater to our vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free friends.”

A sampling of dishes include ahi tuna with fried green tomato and homemade southern chow chow, mussels Il Cielo with fennel, garlic and herb butter, traditional meatballs with tomato ricotta fonduta and lobster ravioli with oven-dried tomato sage butter, and pistachio-crusted Colorado rack of lamb with housemade mint jelly.

A three-course $38 per person price-fixed menu, complete with one bottle of house wine per couple, will also continue Monday through Thursday evenings from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m.

Il Cielo includes space separate from the main dining room for private functions or community events as well as an outdoor patio dining area.
