FORT MYERS, Fla. (Dec. 16, 2013) – Dr. Patrick Flaharty, M.D. recently attended the three-day Cutting Edge Aesthetic Surgery Symposium 2013 in New York City.

Dr. Flaharty joined more than 500 fellow surgeons from across the globe to hear from a world-renowned faculty of plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons and dermatologists presenting 47 point/counterpoint didactic lectures. Sessions explored all methods of facial rejuvenation, comparing complexity of procedures, results, healing and longevity. Patient safety, complications and long-term results were stressed throughout the symposium.

“The field of cosmetic surgery is exploding with new technology, and we pride ourselves on offering our clients the latest techniques and services, both surgical and non-surgical,” said Dr. Flaharty.

According to Flaharty, the meeting focused on stimulating debate on choices, exploring controversies and challenging established and new techniques for facial rejuvenation. Included in the meeting were scientific evidence for current clinical applications of autologous fat grafting for facial rejuvenation; forehead, supraorbital and upper eyelid rejuvenation procedures were compared and contrasted; experts questioned the complexity and benefits of some lower eyelid rejuvenation procedures; the options for midface rejuvenation with lifting, filling or implants were presented and debated by surgeons with vast experience; different facelift techniques were compared for results and longevity; the extent of procedures necessary for creating an aesthetically pleasing neck were argued and modern techniques and technologies for skin resurfacing and face and neck tightening were evaluated and compared to traditional treatments.

How patient photographs can be used to exaggerate surgical results in presentations, publications and websites were also be exposed.
