FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 2, 2014) – The Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Bell Tower Shops will serve as the host hotel for the Inaugural Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial Golf Tournament from April 28 to May 4, 2014.The tournament will take place at Cypress Lake Country Club in Fort Myers and is part of the Symetra Tour, the official developmental tour of the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour beginning its 34th season in 2014. During the three days of competition, 144 LPGA Tour hopefuls will compete for a purse of $100,000 and the opportunity to earn points toward their LPGA Tour membership.

“We are very excited to be a part of this great tournament,” said Jim Larkin, general manager of the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Bell Tower Shops. “The Symetra Tour features some of the nation’s top up-and-coming young female golfers including Cheyenne Woods, Tiger Woods’ niece.”

Woods, 23, has already enjoyed success as a professional golfer. On Feb. 9, she captured her first victory on a major tour at the Volvik RACV Australian Ladies Masters (Ladies European Tour).

The Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial Golf Tournament, which pays homage to one of the LPGA Tour founders and Fort Myers resident, the late Patty Berg, will be played on the Dick Wilson designed course which opened in 1959.

Berg, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, owns the all-time record for most major wins, a total of 15, by a female golfer.

Practice rounds will begin at Cypress Lake Country Club on Tuesday, April 29. Pro-ams will be played on Wednesday and Thursday, while competition will begin on Friday, May 2 and end on Sunday, May 4.
