ESTERO, Fla, Sept. 10, 2015 – Suffolk Construction announced it has hired David DeFilippo as its new chief learning officer responsible for leading the company’s learning, leadership and organizational development strategy, and fostering Suffolk’s “build smart” approach companywide through innovative training programs and initiatives. DeFilippo will also represent the learning and development function as a member of the organization’s Management Committee.

DeFilippo has more than 20 years of experience in the learning and development field. Prior to joining Suffolk, DeFilippo worked at BNY Mellon where he established and led the company’s corporate university for more than 50,000 employees worldwide. He also served a leadership role in corporate training departments at Capital One Financial and Comcast. DeFilippo regularly speaks and writes about topics related to leadership development, executive coaching and learning, and talent management, and has been recognized with several industry awards. He is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania and serves as an executive coach at Harvard Business School.

DeFilippo received his bachelor’s degree from Union College, his Master of Arts from New York University and his doctorate with distinction from the University of Pennsylvania. DeFilippo is also a graduate of Georgetown University’s Leadership Coaching Program. He serves as a mentor to students in the Year Up Program and as a member of the Corporation for the Perkins School for the Blind.
