FORT MYERS, Fla. (Dec. 10, 2015) – The Fort Myers Police Foundation will host the “Men & Women in Blue of the Year” appreciation dinner on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at Colonial Country Club, located at 9181 Independence Way in Fort Myers.

The appreciation dinner honors the outstanding public service of the brightest stars of the Fort Myers Police Department and other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. FMPD retirements for 2015 will also be recognized. More than 60 officers will be honored during the event.

“These men and women put themselves at risk each and every day to make our community safe, and we think they deserve an evening of recognition and thanks,” said Larry Romano, president of the Fort Myers Police Foundation. “We hope the community will join us in thanking these public servants in blue for all they do for us.”

Individual tickets are $100, and tables of eight are $750. Sponsorships from $100 to $10,000 are also available.

All funds raised by the Police Foundation go toward purchasing life-saving equipment for the FMPD.

Established in 2014, the Fort Myers Police Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose goal is to help build a stronger bond between the community and its local police department. Since its formation, the Police Foundation has raised $150,000 that has gone toward purchasing medical kits for patrol cars, ballistic shields, electronic ear protection for shooting ranges and a firearms training simulator.
