NAPLES, Fla. (May 25, 2016) – Ryan Benson, MBA, principal with A. Vernon Allen Builder, has been appointed by the Collier Building Industry Association as the government affairs liaison to The City of Naples Building Department and City Council.
In this position, Benson will strive to keep lines of communication open between the industry and the City of Naples Building Department through informal meetings and educational seminars with city staff on current issues. He will also monitor local and state legislation and provide commentary, if necessary, on pending legislation that affects the building industry.
Originally from Canada, Benson has lived in Florida for almost 20 years. After graduating from Canterbury School in Fort Myers, he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Stetson University in DeLand, Fla., and his Master of Business Administration degree from Florida International University in Miami. He has been in the construction industry for 15 years and joined A. Vernon Allen Builder in 2007. In 2013, he and Andrew Bringardner acquired the firm.
Benson holds a LEED Green Associate accreditation and is a certified building contractor. He is very involved in several community organizations including serving on the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County and is chair of the Club’s Immokalee Youth Development Center Construction Committee. He previously served as president of Naples Gulf Shore Rotary Club from 2013 to 2014 and was on the board of trustees for Canterbury School for five years. He also continues to guest lecture at Stetson’s School of Business.
