FORT MYERS, Fla. (Aug. 2, 2016) – As part of its continuing community outreach efforts, the Red Sox Foundation will hold its fifth annual Swings for the Sox golf tournament on Oct. 14, 2016.

The tournament will take place at Tiburon Golf Club located at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort at 2620 Tiburon Drive in Naples. A scramble format with prizes for the longest drive, putting, closest to the pin and more will begin at 9 a.m.

All proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit the Lee County Red Sox Scholarship in partnership with The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc. Last year, the Red Sox Foundation awarded a $5,000 college scholarship to one deserving student from each of the 13 public high schools in Lee County.

Last year’s fourth annual event raised more than $75,000.

“We were very excited that the first four years of this Red Sox Foundation golf tournament not only sold out but has raised $180,000 for local nonprofits and scholarships,” said Katie Haas, vice president of Florida business operations for the Red Sox.

This year’s presenting sponsors are DLD Builders, CVS Pharmacy and The Hertz Corporation.

Tournament sponsorships are available from $150 to $10,000. Foursome player packages begin at $1,000.

In lieu of the annual Party in the Park, all supporters of the Red Sox Foundation will be able to participate in an online silent auction where they will be able to bid on one-of-a-kind auction items and other unique experiences. More details on the online silent auction will be forthcoming. The Red Sox Foundation will also be raffling off an ultimate Red Sox fan experience with a trip for four to Boston.  The package includes four roundtrip airline tickets on JetBlue Airways, a two-night stay at the Hotel Commonwealth and tickets to two games at Fenway Park. Only 100 raffle tickets will be sold at $75 each with all proceeds going to support the Lee County Red Sox Foundation’s scholarship fund. To purchase a raffle ticket, call 239-226-4783 or visit www.redsoxfoundation.org.

All golfers will receive an exclusive gift bag courtesy of New Balance, breakfast and lunch at Tiburon before and after the tournament on Friday. Tournament participants will also have the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind silent auction items and win unique raffle prizes.

Raffle and silent auction items that can be used to aid in raising more money for the Red Sox Foundation’s scholarship fund and additional funds for those in need throughout Southwest Florida are also being accepted.
