FORT MYERS, Fla. (Aug. 18, 2016) – More than 20 employees and family members of United Mechanical’s residential air conditioning division recently participated in a United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee Day of Caring.

The team spent the day cleaning up planting beds and installing a drip irrigation system for Child Care of Southwest Florida’s Joseph H. Messina Children’s Center in Fort Myers, a United Way agency.

“It’s always been a philosophy of our company to give back to the community, and we are able to accomplish so much more united together as a team than we could individually,” said Mike Clark, president of United Mechanical. “We really enjoyed the camaraderie of working together for the benefit of others and being able to use our skills to help a local nonprofit.”

The United Way’s Days of Caring is a year-round program that connects businesses with nonprofit agencies in need of assistance. Businesses have many choices as they select projects needing support by the agencies, including the type of project, location in the community, degree of physical labor and full-day or half-day time commitment.

For more than 40 years, Child Care of Southwest Florida has been providing services to children, families and childcare professionals in Southwest Florida. The nonprofit currently has more than 100 employees serving more than 600 children each year at its six different childcare centers in Hendry and Lee counties.
