ESTERO, Fla. (Sept. 28, 2016) – Suffolk Construction’s Southwest Florida operations recently partnered with other industry leaders to host a kickoff event to raise money for the American Heart Association’s annual Collier County Heart Walk.
More than 50 construction professionals attended the first inaugural Collier County Heart Walk Industry Social that was held Sept. 22 at Bar Louie in the Gulf Coast Town Center in Fort Myers.
In addition to Suffolk, industry sponsors included BUILD, LLC, DeAngelis Diamond Construction, Gates, London Bay Homes, Morton & Wasmer Builders, LLC and Owen Ames Kimball.
The event served as an official kickoff to the Heart Walk in order to raise life-saving dollars in support of the mission to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke, the nation’s number one and number five killers.
Hosts Pete Tuffo and Josh Christensen of Suffolk Construction and John DeAngelis of DeAngelis Diamond Construction shared their own personal stories of battles with heart disease with the group.
“Everyone, whether it is you personally or a family member or friend, has been affected by heart disease,” Tuffo said. “We are thankful to all our corporate partners, donors, walkers and volunteers who have accepted the challenge to help fight heart disease and stroke.”
Sponsorship levels announced at the event range from $1,000 to $5,000.
The 2016 5K event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Cambier Park in Naples. The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere event for raising funds to save lives from heart disease and stroke. Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, the Heart Walk creates an environment that’s fun and rewarding for the entire family.
The kickoff event raised more than $25,000.
Suffolk is also a corporate sponsor of the event and has supported the American Heart Association for many years.
