FORT MYERS, Fla. (Sept. 13, 2013) – Cycling and running enthusiasts gathered at Firestone Grille’s martini bar on Aug. 31 to celebrate Everyone Rocks 99 Days Pre-Party Countdown, a kick-off party for the annual Everyone Rides event to take place in December.

All proceeds from the night, including $5.99 martinis and raffle tickets, were donated to the youth development programs facilitated through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County. Raffle-ticket winners took home prizes donated by the Bike Bistro, the Run Shoppe, Crowne Plaza Hotel at Bell Tower in Fort Myers and the Bike Route—which donated the grand prize of an Electra Cruiser.

“We appreciate the support of Daniel Kearns, Chef Marbin Avilez, the entire Firestone team and the various companies that provided prize donations,” said Shannon Lane, chief professional officer of the BGCLC. “We look forward to another great year of Everyone Rides and celebrating with the community.”

This year’s Everyone Rides, Runs & Relax event will take place on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. at JetBlue Park at Fenway South, the Red Sox’s new 106-acre Spring Training and Player Development Complex, located at 11500 Daniels Parkway. Kids younger than 12 may ride or run for free with their parent. A free Kids Zone will also be available during the event with rock walls, laser tag, bounce houses, an inflatable maze and more for the whole family to enjoy.

Pro cyclists Phil Gaimon, Frankie Andreu and Tom Danielson have signed on as special-event guests.

Everyone Rides, Runs & Relax is a local fundraising event that invites cyclists and runners to come together and do what they love for a great cause. Initially, the event’s purpose was to raise money to purchase bicycles for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County, but with growing popularity, Everyone Rides has been able to help fund other BGCLC programs in recent years to ensure its students have access to all the opportunities they deserve.

Participants can register and start fundraising now by visiting www.everyonerides.org. The highest fundraising individual and groups will receive quality prizes.

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs is to inspire and enable young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Clubs provide safe places where children can learn, grow, receive help with homework and develop coping skills that assist them in avoiding destructive influences in a fast-paced, complex world. Membership dues are $10 per school year so that all children can have access to our programs. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County relies upon the philanthropic support of individuals, corporations and foundations in order to sustain and grow its services.
