FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 25, 2015) – As part of its continuing community outreach efforts, the Red Sox Foundation will hold its fourth annual Swings For The Sox golf tournament on Friday, Oct. 23.

The tournament will take place at Tiburon Golf Club located at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort at 2620 Tiburon Drive in Naples. A scramble format with prizes for the longest drive, putting, closest to the pin and more will begin at 9 a.m.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit the newly created Red Sox Scholarship in partnership with the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc. The Red Sox Foundation plans to award a $5,000 scholarship to attend college to one deserving student from each of the 13 public high schools in Lee County.

Prior to the tournament, JetBlue Park at Fenway South, the Red Sox’s 106-acre Spring Training and Player Development Complex located at 11500 Fenway South Drive, will host a Party in the Park “Tee Off” Party from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. All guests will receive ballpark bites and cocktails on the Green Monster. The night will also include opportunities for participants to take batting practice swings from home plate for the chance to win 2016 Spring Training season tickets. Self-guided tours, a one-of-a-kind silent auction and raffle prizes will also take place during the event. Individual tickets are available for $25. Kids, 12 years old and younger, are free.

Last year’s third annual event raised more than $50,000 to support the Children’s Advocacy Center and The Immokalee Foundation

“We were very excited that the first three years of this local Red Sox Foundation golf tournament not only sold out but has raised $110,000 for local nonprofits,” said Katie Haas, senior director of Florida business operations.

This year’s presenting sponsors are CVS Pharmacy and The Hertz Corporation, along with additional sponsors Marco Island Marriott, Westin Resort Cape Coral, Aramark, Duffy’s Sports Grill, Crowther Roofing, Marquis Wealth Management and Suffolk Construction.

Tournament sponsorships are still available from $150 to $10,000. Individual playing positions are also available for $250 per person. Foursome player packages begin at $800.

All golfers will receive a gift bag, breakfast and lunch at Tiburon before and after the tournament on Friday, entry into the Party in the Park on Thursday and the opportunity to take batting practice on the playing field at JetBlue Park. Tournament participants will also have the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind silent auction items and win unique raffle prizes.

Raffle and silent auction items that can be used to aid in raising more money for the Red Sox Scholarship and additional funds for those in need throughout Southwest Florida are also being accepted.
